Drag & Drop text quits working correctly at 144 open fil

I am curious if anyone knows why the text drag & drop does not work anymore when I get 144+ files open?

* number of files?
* memory?
* ... ?

It looks like it forgets that I'm in the middle of a drag & drop action and sometimes it becomes a drag-to-select action instead... or just drops the text anywhere that it wants to... or else it acts like I don't have the mouse button held down and the cursor just moves around.

Text drag & drop works fine in all other applications.

It is only a problem in AkelPad when I exceed 143 files. And if I have 144+ files open, if I close files until I only have 143 open, then drag & drop works ok again.

And I don't see anything else wrong... just drag & drop.

Environment:
Portable Apps AkelPad 4.9.8(x64)
Multi-Window (MDI) mode
Windows 10 Pro x64
32GB RAM

(And, "yes"... I really do need all of those files open!)

I tried d&d up to ~700 files. It is too slow on MDI so I prefer PMDI. But as for me the both modes (MDI and PMDI) are working with 144+ files
Test on WinXP sp3 x86:
- AkelPad 4.9.8(x32) ("PortableApps.com")
- AkelPad 4.9.9 beta (akelpad-codesvn-r4409-trunk-akelpad_4)

UPD: try to exclude the possible influence of plug-ins (turn off all the plugins and then turn on one by one).
