I installed the 64 bit version correctly but could only find 32 bit versions of the Save and Session plugins. I couldn't make them work with the 64 bit .exe.

I think the Plugin Webpage needs to state clearly at the top what to do about plugins for the 64 bit version.

x64 plugins avaiable only in Installer http://akelpad.sourceforge.net/en/download.php (look for link labelled "Installer (multi-lingual)") now(including both Session and SaveFile plugins).
Also you can build them manually(sources are the same and contain build script/project).

x64 version is only 3 days of age so do not panic, all things will be arranged very soon.
