No, I am not talking about AkelPad's settings. I am talking about actual files whose extension is .reg.

A .reg files whose fist line is as follows has to be encoded in UTF-16.

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
Now, open a .reg file of this kind with AkelPad (v4.3.5) and save it without changing encoding. RegEdit.exe can no longer import this .reg file. What does AkelPad do to .reg files?

OK, NoBOM plugin should be turned off when editing .reg files.

Actually, I am not sure what this plugin does because even without this plugin, you can save files without BOM from the "Save as ..." dialog.
