AkelPad

Hello Instructor,

the newer the version of AkelPad, the bigger the release executable.
I was wondering if there is a way to get it smaller?
I'm NOT talking about exe-packers like UPX! Of course the release becomes bigger when additional features are implemented.

Are you including *.rc files for all languages in the same release? What do you think about shrinking the size a little bit?

No, only one language is build-in. Any possible optimization already has been made. Bigger size it is a price for the own control. Some numbers for the English version:

AkelPad 3.6.4 - exe size - 194,5Kb
RichEd20.dll 5.30.23.1230 (3.0) - dll size - 423,5Kb

AkelPad 4.1.8 - exe + dll size - 298,0Kb
AkelPad 4.1.8 - exe size - 218,5Kb
AkelEdit.dll - dll size - 87,0Kb

Ofcource there is always room to remove functionality . For example:
AkelPad 4.1.8 - exe + dll - without Win95/98/Me support (only Unicode) - 218,5Kb
AkelPad 4.1.8 - exe + dll - without unicode support (only Ansi) - 216,0Kb

Yes its very small. I was just wondering why the size is increasing...
I think its good to have only one AkelPad version that works with all kinds of windows!
I hope this will also be for future versions.
