AkelPad and GNU ASpell ?

I love this highly configurable editor !
Is there a way to use GNU ASpell )* with Akelpad?
Or will a plug-in have to be written for it, such as exists for Notepad++? I am not a programmer, so any volunteers in that case? I suspect it could become a very popular plug-in!
