Send and receive wm messages

Can someone instruct me on how to send and receive windows messages (WM_*) to and from an external program in an AkelPad script? It's very easy to send messages, but how do I look for and receive a message?
(Sorry if this question has been raised before - I did a little search on the english forum but found nothing to be hopeful about; and "Я не говорю по русский"!)
