Displaying Special Caracters Symbols

Post by Kurouto »

Hi,

I was testing special character from Asian fonts, but AkelPad doesn't seem to display all of them.

However, Notepad does display them.

These are pictures from Microsoft Word symbols.

I have a picture of it that I'd like to show, but I can't figure out how to insert a picture here.

My question is: Is it possible to create a plug-in support for this?

If MS Notepad did not find the symbol in the current font it search for the symbol in other fonts. And draw with the other font if it found the symbol.

Thank you for answering so soon.

AkelPad is capable of doing the same thing, right?

No. AkelPad uses only currently selected font.

Does that mean that most fonts already include normal East Asian characters, such as Japanese and Chinese, because they display fine along with English characters in the same file?

For example, the font Cambria.

I believe what I wrote above is true since Korean seems to only display in font series that end with Che (such as @Batang, Batang, and BatangChe), Tahoma, Arial Unicode MS Series, and Microsoft San Serif.

I would like confirmation if this is true.

This is system depended, say "Courier New" on default Russian Windows XP install doesn't contain Asian characters. There need to install Asian language support to make Japanese and Chinese characters visible with "Courier New".
