Hello, I've been using AkelPad as a Notepad replacement in Windows 8. Always opened it from run dialog by typing "notepad".
I can't remeber why, but I did something, maybe an update, and now always I try to open "notepad" I get this dialog:

And AkelPad won't open.

Ok I managed to solve this particular problem by uninstalling Akel and then remove all registry entries for "akel".
The new problem is that a new installation of AkelPad won't replace notepad anymore.

Is your Windows - x64? If so, do you install AkelPad x64?

Arkilus
then why did you navigate to c:\windows\system32\ on your screenshot?
Instead, you should have navigated to c:\windows\syswow64\
