Jun. 16--Stanley E. Stanley E. Carrington Sr. of Brentwood died Friday of congestive heart failure. He was 85. The World War II Army veteran possessed a tv repair shop at Mt. Anthony Carrington of Sheraden stated his dad helped wash prison camp survivors and get them prepared to come back to their own families throughout the war.

Mr. Carrington afterward worked for Gimbels department store while he attended a technical college to find television fix at a time once the box was more of a novelty, '' his son said. "Lots of people thought that he was mad," he explained.

Mr. Carrington functioned for Coury Television prior to going into business for himself, Anthony Carrington said. Following his first heart attack, he took up ping pong to recover his hand-eye coordination and eventually become an addict who taught the match to his kids. Anthony Carrington reported the game likely extended his dad's life since the majority of his dad's side of the family have died before they turned 60. Coached by his father, he ended up playing at town finals having a cast on his foot. "that I was not likely to concede. It was not because I pushed me it had been the values he instilled in me," he explained.

He explained his dad believed in doing everything completely. Seemiller said Carrington was great with words and children loved learning. Eric Carrington of Dormont said among the primary things his dad educated them about ping pong was not to call it "ping-pong." "He'd get down," he explained with a laugh. Mr. Carrington purchased a match table and place it upon the border of McKinley Park at Beltzhoover to provide kids some constructive diversion. Eric Carrington said he has met plenty of folks who profited from his dad's lessons.

"He showed me that America is the best location on Earth, and you can do whatever that you want if you set your mind to it," he explained. Gary Egri, president of this South Park Ping pong Club, stated Carrington was a motivational mentor who taught him what he knows about ping pong.

"He wasn't only an outstanding teacher, he had been an outstanding role model," he explained.
Along with his sons Eric and Anthony, Mr. Carrington is survived by his wife, Lois J. Carrington of Beltzhoover; his daughter Tiffany Carrington of Carrick; and sons Richard Carrington of Beltzhoover, Robert Carrington of Squirrel Hill and Stanley Carrington of Natrona Heights.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 p.m. now at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by interment in Jefferson Memorial Park.
