it doesn't gray them for me. Anyways, I was talking about blurring, not graying.
"undo" and "redo" are blurred at the bottom in Faenza Dark (and only there), so it's clearly the icons you used.

There is a soft gradient. That is how the icons were created. This can be removed and the SVG source files are available if you want to change them. Of course, you will need a graphics program with vector capability.

If others have an issue with it I will consider adding an alternative, but it will require editing every other icon to remove the gradient as it would look strange only changing 2 of them.

It is not an issue to me and no one else has mentioned it. However, you and I might be the only 2 people using these icons! ;)

is that possible to assign some dark color to the toolbars' backgrounds or AkelPad doesn't support theming that deep?

IMP there's no point in such a customization: akelpad should just support primitive skins.
